More About the Author
Since College, I have taken four courses from "The
Institute of Children's Literature" West Redding, Penn. and
collaborated with Diane Raintree and Laine Cunningham. They are
editors, listed in the back of Writer's Digest Magazine.
Laine also helped me market press releases and biography
information regarding A Cat's Tale. I received training at
special high school workshops. I was also on the editorial staff
for my high school newspaper as the Managing Editor (junior year)
and Editor in Chief (senior year). I also wrote on the editorial
staff in Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton, Wisconsin (news,
book reviews, and poetry).
I have published two poems. One was on schizophrenia (I have a
related disorder) and the other was on Alzheimer's disease (my
mother had it). They were published in 2006 in Auscult: The
Humanities Journal of the Medical School of Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. One of the poems I wrote for my mother was made into a
song and recorded a few years ago. Another poem I wrote is being
worked into song-form now.

When I was a preschool child, my mother collected pictures that
she thought would spark my imagination and put the pictures
in a scrapbook along with whatever stories they inspired.
Recently, she came across one I wrote, around age three or four,
about a tiger and a bumble bee. The tiger was bigger and could
easily eat the bee. But, the bee stung the tiger and ultimately
won. She also found a picture of me sitting on my great-uncle
Ted's lap, sucking my thumb and paying rapt attention while being
read to from a children's dictionary.
My books have a specific style. Kicklighter Shadow
(another book I wrote recently) is a process story or "plotless"
story where description, rhyme, and the sound of words take
precedence. It is being redone and reissued due to typos and one
faulty illustration. A Cat's Tale is prose (no rhyme) and
does have a plot. Both contain good values and positive messages.
